Build on strengths for brighter futures
Have you ever noticed that your brain has a natural tendency to give weight to negative experiences or interactions more than positive ones? Psychologists refer to this as negativity bias, and it causes people to focus on one bad thing in a mountain of good things.
A strengths-based approach focuses on abilities, knowledge, and capacities rather than things that are lacking. The approach recognizes that children and families are resilient and are capable of growth, learning, and change.
We created our online course, A Strengths-Based Approach, to help you understand what the approach is and provide strategies to support growth in your practice with individuals and families.
A strengths-based approach highlights what’s strong rather than what’s wrong.
